Your connections are family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, community programs. They are here to provide: Emotional, Informational, Instrumental, and Spiritual support. Parents can have a “go to” person in the event they need assistance with transportation, finances, resources, and a person to vent to.
When parents receive support, they feel a sense of connectedness where not only their interaction within each other, but also with their children. Parents can provide nurturing and develop a better secure attachment with their children and reduce the risk of child maltreatment, abuse, and neglect.
Participate in sports and outdoor activities that are for parents/families.
Attending parenting classes, cooking, health, etc.
Look up events, potlucks, or health fairs that can be occurring at your local community centers via 2-1-1 or online.
Plan special events with friends and family (i.e. picnics, play dates, trips, family game nights.)
Introducing yourself and your family to your neighbors.
