THE POSITIVE EFFECTS OF PARENTAL RESILIENCE

  • Strengthens the parent-child relationship-when parents are able to manage stressors, they feel better and can be nurturing and provide more positive attention to their children.

  • The nurturing and positive attention fosters the development of resilience in children when they experience stress-remember we are our children’s best role model.

  • Parents who are resilient emotionally are able to maintain a positive attitude, solve problems and effectively rise to challenges in their lives and more importantly are less likely to abuse or neglect their children.

  • Demonstrating resilience increases the parent’s self-confidence and gives evidence that they are and can be competent caregivers.
