THE POSITIVE EFFECTS OF PARENTAL RESILIENCE
Strengthens the parent-child relationship-when parents are able to manage stressors, they feel better and can be nurturing and provide more positive attention to their children.
The nurturing and positive attention fosters the development of resilience in children when they experience stress-remember we are our children’s best role model.
Parents who are resilient emotionally are able to maintain a positive attitude, solve problems and effectively rise to challenges in their lives and more importantly are less likely to abuse or neglect their children.
Demonstrating resilience increases the parent’s self-confidence and gives evidence that they are and can be competent caregivers.
